For thiriy-r.oven years ho was employed in the Bass works and for seven years was a member of .he police force in this | city. August 17. 1829. lie i came i*. this country in ’53. .and after ! spending a few weeks in Cleveland. ; came direct lt;o this city and has lived I here ever since, lie was first r-in-j ployed at Em rick’s saw mill onil after j two years there he wont lo the Bass works. In ’57 he was married io Miss Barbara Sehruiuni in the old 8r. Mary's church. by tno Rev. Father Weills. To lhis union were born iwelvo children, ciglu of whom are now living. They are Mr*. Lawrence Schmidt, of this clly: John. Peter. Clara, Mary, Nicholas, Katherine and Charles Boll:, all of this city. They came direct :o this city and it was here that she met Mr. Roth.There ore present iotlay several of Mrs. Roth's brothers and sisters, who came here io help in celebrating the happy occasion. They it re Mrs. Elizabeth Gunbelleln. of Aurora. 111., who was a bridesmaid at the wedding fifty years ago; Mrs. Clara Earth, of Mu Palatine. III.; Mrs. Christina Faust, of Chicago, and Phillip Schramm, of Marlon. The oat of town guests at the dinner this evening will also Include Mr. Adam Daub, who was an attendant at the wedding; Mrs. Charles Farrel and Miss Gertrude Droll, of Aurora. 111., and Mrs. Thomas Donahue. of Hartford City.In keeping with the day the decorations of the house are gold in color. Beautiful flowers adorn all the rooms and Black-eyed Susans. coriopsSs. California poppies and sunflowers' bank mantels and doorways and fill vases and jardinieres **i*h lovely effect. Mr. and Mrs. Roth have received many of their friends during the day and good wishes mingled with congratulations of the heartiest kind.
