2 Men Who Shot Felons A re Named Honorary ColonelsOKLAHOMA CITY, July 22 —lt;JP)—Acting Gov. James E.Berry issued commissions ashonorary colonels today to the two Oklahomans who fired the shots which stopped the desperate foray of Roy (Pete) Traxler and Fred Tindol, escaped Texas convicts. The names of James E. Denton of Asher and Frank Trimmer of Caddo headed a list of honorary officers named today by the lieutenant-governor.“Please accept my congratulations on account of the heroic deed which you performed yesterday/’ Berry wrote each man. “Your prompt action ridded the state of a dangerous character and no doubt saved the lives of several good men.“As acting governor of the state of Oklahoma, it is my pleasure to appoint you an honorary colonel on the governor’s staff, together with all the rights, privileges and benefits pertaining thereto.“Oklahoma is indeed fortunate in having a good citizen like you who is ready and willing to risk his life in the performance of a patriotic duty/'
