Open House on Sunday WillHonor Couple In MapletonMAPLETON — The family of [Street. During World War IMr. and Mrs. Jack Eastman will honor them at a open house Sunday when they celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary.Friends and relatives are invited to call at their home, 618 East Maple, in Mapleton, from 2 to 4 p.m.Mr. Eastman was born May 18, 1896, in Ogden,to Ephrun and Hansine Eastman. He spen^ h's eariy life in Ogden where h e attended school through the seventh grade. He then took a job at Schupe Williams Candy Co. where he worked in the winter. In the summer he made boxes for a packing company. Later he worked for the American Can Co.He met his wife, Vera May Carpenter, in Salt Lake City. She was born on May S, 1898, in Provo, to Levi and Hannah. Carpenter. After their marriage on July 28,1917, they lived in Ogden where Mr. Eastman worked for the Goddard Packing Co. This company later erected a plant..t. « r..he was sent to the Bremerton, Wash, Naval Yard where he worked as a machinist for twoyears.After they came home from Bremerton, Mr. Eastman went into business for himself. He took a homestead and ran some sheep on it. He also built a cabin where they lived every summer for five years. When the government bought the homestead back from him for the watershed, he went into the business of raising purebred blackface sheep, some of which he still owns. He was one of the first men to start the annual sheep show in Spanish Fork in May.Mr. and Mrs. Eastman are the parents of four sons and two daughters: Mrs. Henry (Bernice) Brimhall, Leland Eastman, Harman Eastman of Provo; Gordon Eastman, Mrs. Le-Roy (CLaVern) Clark; Orem Frank Eastman of American Fork. They have 31 grandchildren and five great-grandchild-
