MLA Urges Tourist Site For DunveganA tourist information centre where travellers of the Peace River Country can obtain folders and brochures should be established at Dunvegan, says A.O, Fimrite, Spirit River MLA.“The tourist association of the north might make something available at Dunvegan*, he said. “There is nothing there thatgives information/Mr. Fimrite, vice-chairman of the Northern Development Council and a member of the Dun-vegan Historical Society, said he would “push* to get a centre there and indicated the provincial archives and museum branch are giving some attention to what is at Dunvegan.He suggested the tourist industry of the Peace River Country can be “built up* by promoting paved circular tour from Valley view to peace River, Dun-vegan, Grande Prairie and Dawson Creek.“It’s hard to get tourists off i the pavement!* he said. “You 1can keep them in the countryone or two extra days on a ;first class highway/ ]He said an American tourist, J.J. Wagner of Fort Collins, Colorado, who took the circular j route recently, was “very ;impressed with die beauty of the j country and with Dunvegan/“The family were travelling in a trailer and staying at wayside camps in the province. Mrs. Wagner said in the United States they haven’t got anything like that,” said Mr. Fimrite.The MLA said die family stopped at Dunvegan and were travelling to Alaska via Grande Prairie and Dawson Creek.“There should be some folders at Dunvegan to give tourists somehistory which is really mea- 1 ningfnl/ he said.
