Coolings celebrate55th anniversaryLester and Bernadine Coolingof Arlington Heights celebrated their 55th wedding anniversarywith a family reunion at their home on Lake Arlington The couple met when Lester, a mailman, would visit the store where Bernadine worked. His eye was caught by Bemadine’s red corduroy jacket! They were married on June 27,1942, in Dubuque.tow®- - ^-iThe Coolings have five children: Jim (Ann) Cooling of Kansas City. Mo.; Judy (Walt) Kuhlman of St. Louis; Tom (Terri) Cooling of Southberry, Conn.; Carol (Chip)Cooling Kopp of Arlington Heights; and Kim (Andy) Roberts of Collierville, Tenn.; and 10grandchildren.Bernadine, 75, was born in Dubuque, Iowa. She is a homemaker who enjoys gambling andwatching the Chicago Cubs in her leisure timeLester, 82, was born in Dubuque, Iowa. He began his career with the U.S. Post Office, served in World War II, flew as a captain with TWA, and finally worked in the flight standards division of the FAA. retiring in 1989 after 50 total years of service.
