Wilkenings Surprised On 25 th Wedding DateMr. and Mrs. Merle Wilkening of Colo were honored by their children at Twin Anchors Restaurant, Colo, recently, on their 25th wedding anniversary. Hosts were Mr. and Mrs. Doug Hix of Nevada, Sgt. and Mrs. Dennis Wilkening of Grand Forks Air Force Base in North Dakota and Chris and Stan Wilkening of Colo.The Wilkenings were married June 29, 1947 at the Lutheran Church in Femald by Rev. John Dawson. They now reside on a farm east of Colo.surprise reception and open house.Tjelmeland of Nevada, sister of Mrs. Wilkening. Mrs. Larry Ragee presided at the guest book. Guests enjoyed visiting throughout the evening while the honored couple opened their many card and gifts.Guests present were : Mrs. Mary Banks, Mr. and Mrs.Mrs. Wilkening was presented with a corsage of pink and white carnations and roses, accented in silver. Mr. Wilkening wore a pink carnation.The lace-covered tea table was centered with a bouquet of pink and white flowers, arranged by the children. White and pink candles in double candelabras were on each side. White frosted cakes with “25th” designs, were served, along with assorted mints and nuts. Following the dinner, the Mrs. Dull, of Mar-honored couple was ushered shalltown, sister of Mr. into the restaurant's party Wilkening, served coffee room, where friends and from a silver service and relatives had gathered for a dipping punch was Mrs. LeoLarry Ragee and Angie, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Tjelmeland and Dean, Mr. and Mrs. Don Banks, Mr and Mrs. Elmer Weuve and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Egland, Cindy and Nancy, all of Nevada; Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Wilkening and Connie, Mr. and Mrs. Don Edler, Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Brown, Rev. and Mrs. L. R. Meinecke and Etta, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Braddy, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Eggers and Melvin Wilkening, all of State Center.Also, Mr. and Mrs. John Dull, Kevin and Kristine, and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Holubar, Mark, Barry and Terry of Marshalltown. Also present were two little granddaughters, Amie Wilkening and Lisa Hix.
