Joseph E. Bush, Jr, o: Dresden, in search of a way to beat the housing shortage, started the remodel**££ 3*» In March Of !Ff6_Impeded by government restrictions and shortage of budding materials, they completed the project a few weeks ago-The school house was of the red-brick oae-room variety set back from the road in a cluster of trees. The first school at this vicinity was a frame structure built farther back in the woods- This newer brick structure was built in 2893. Because of its picturesque location. the ate was long a favorite picnic grounds.The Bushes found why the Spot was called Stony Point when they started the excavation of the basement. The building had been constructed on blue limestone and it was finally necessary to blast in order to break up the stone.Although the building was quite old it was still in good condition, and the original plan was to leave the outside as it was. Later it became neeessarvto rebuild the roof and part of the sides bin the original and bricks were used .it the reconstruction- All four comers, the foundation, and the whole of the south wall were left intact.The building was larger than mcst of this type, measuring twenty-seven by thirty-sevenfeet on the outside. The amount of space which this provided is amazing. Downstairs is a kilcnen, lavatory, EitiHty room, dining room, and a large living room. Upstairs there is a master bedroom, s, nursery, a smaller bedroom,two lavatories, and a bath. Two additional rooms have been built over the garage which Is attached to the south end of the original structure.The architect. Xoverre Mus-son of Columbus, took full advantage of the beautiful landscape. In the living room are immense picture windows on three sides, which provide a view of the wooded hills to the east and north and sloping Held on the west, as well as admitting plenty of sunlight.Sunning water of course is something new to the school building. It is close to her husband's place of business, the Bush Woolen Mills at Dresden, and et is far enough from town to provide privacy aand a better place for her three youngd aughters xo play safely.
