(From Middle Georgia Argus,July 21, 1883)The peach crop is a failure in this county.* x • SkfSiThe picnic at Indian Springs on last Saturday was largely attended by the young people of Butts and surrounding counties. It was a grand success.Mrs. Allie Holifield, mother of Mr. Matt Holifield of this city, died at her home four miles north of Jackson on Saturday evening. She was in her usual good health up to Thursday night at 11 o’clock, when she was found prostrated under a stroke of paralysis, in which condition she lay until her death, not being able to move or speak to her friends. Mrs. Holifield was in her 78th year.
