Niilo Korhonen officiating.The bridal party included the late Sulvia Kujala Benson, maid of honor; the late William Saari, best man; Ellen Haanpaa O’Connell and Elizabeth Betty Ahola Schweig, bridesmaids; and Jack Kujala and Reino Perkio, groomsmen.John Saari and Jack Kujala, brothers of the couple, escorted them to their place of honor at the anniversary celebration. A program was arranged by the children, Sydney Nordling, Sally Osman and Sylvia Saari, who served as narrator. Dwight Lundeby was the organist. The Rev. Roy Gustafson gave the invocation and spoke briefly. Mrs. Saari recounted some humorous incidents about the Saaris’ married life.Linda Lane and Steve Piper sang a duet and the Saari’s children reminisced in word and song. Participation of grandchildren included comments by Linda Lane; an original poem by Nancy Nordling; and messages from grandsons Mark, Steven, and David Osman, read by Sally Osman. A solo by Linda Lane was accompanied by Piper on the flute.A buffet lunch was served in the lower church from a lace-covered table with a floral centerpiece and gold tapers.
