R. Clippinger of Dayton, Bishop of the Central Area of the United Brethren denomination, Sunday afternoon.The United Brethren Churchclaims to be the first denomination to originate in the colonies, in the year 1767. It was not until 1800 t that the church was formally organized. There are four conferences in Ohio and the local church is a member of the Sandus-* ky Conference founded in 1837 along the Sandusky river.The local church is the result of the work and financial investment of this conference of 150 churches. The present building was purchased by the conference trustees at the cost of $7,500. Remodeling of the building was accomplished with small exceptions by the ministers and some laymen of the conference. About $11,000 was spent in remodeling the building Into a church and apartment-parsonage and the* grading of the grounds. This total amount was assumed by the conference, leaving no obligation to the local congregation of 30 active members.Bishop Clippinger spoke to the* local congregation and the large number of friends present. He spoke at the Sunday morning service on the subject. “Individual Loyalty and Church Security.” Miss Eloise Hammond of Lakeside gave a chalk talk to the church school.The afternoon service of worship was conducted by the pastor, Adolphus W. Pringle. Rev. P. M.diers’ Home gave the call to wor-shop. Rev. Lawrence A. Wood, pastor of the First Baptist Church led the afternoon prayer. Rev. Hunsdon Cary, Jr., rector of Grace Church read the Scripture lesson. Special music was given by Mrs. Marion Sprau and Mrs. Madeline Capozzi who each sang a solo and then sang a duet. Miss Agnes Weir accompanied them and played for the congregational singing. The music was granted by Salem Evangelical Church.Dr. V. H. Allman of Bluffton, conference superintendent, presented the church to Bishop A. R. Clippinger for dedication. The building which has served various groups in the past for a variety of purposes was then “dedicated to the service and worship of Almighty God,” and the parsonage for the home of the minister.There were 10 different denominations and about 45 churches represented at the afternoon service, and 225 people present.The key of the church was given by the Bishop to L. F. Perkins, chairman of the local board of trustees and then In turn to the other members of the board, John Shearer, William Keith, Ray Fox and to Rev. Mr. Pringle.Other officers of the church are Mrs. L. F.
