LancasteralumnigatherA crowd of about 100 Lancaster High School alumni and members of their families gathered Sunday, June 2, 1991, at the Lancaster School for the very first Lancaster High School Reunion. Those attending from out-of-state were Mary Esther Crum Bolza of Tucson, Ariz. and Lucille McJilton Kubit of Ocala,Fla.Among the 54 alumni who registered there were members of almost every class from 1921 to 1948. (Lancaster’s three-year high school had its beginning in 1919 and continued until 1948 when it was merged with Mt. Carmel High School.) Those in attendance included several students who enrolled in the early 1920s: Marie Couch Shank, 1921-23; Clarence “Tom” Beal and Clarence Higgins, 1922-25; Sylvia Smith Stoltz, 1923-26; Lucille McJilton Kubit, 1924-27; Mark Putnam, 1925-28.Loren Pixley offered a prayer before the bountiful carry-in dinner. After the meal Dallas Krumm, who had planned andcoordinated the event, presented a program including a brief history of Lancaster High School, given by AnnaLHS alumniFifty-four alumni of Lancaster High School gathered for their very first reunion June 2, 1991. (Harriet Bernin-gcr, Virgil Stalions and John Wright were the first high school teachers at Lancaster.)In a closing memorial,Dallas read a list of alumni who arc deceased. The list had been compiled by Loren Litherland and HaroldNeikirk.Photographs of the group were taken by Plu-ma Litherland. All present enjoyed visiting, reminiscing and looking at old class photos and yearbooks. A reunion next year is being planned and will be held the first Sunday in June.The reunion committee is composing a list of names and addresses ofclass members who are shut-ins or arc in poor health and unable to attend, but would be interested in a newsletter.
