Anniversaries___Eveard and Irene HarrisonEveard and Irene Harrison of 1420 Garfield St., Walla Walla, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at a 7 to 9 p.m. reception July 13, 1990, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1821 S. Second Ave.The couple’s children and their spouses, Bart and Judy Harrison of Payson, Utah, Frank and Barbara Harrison of Phoenix, Ariz., Karen and Dwight Miller of Laie, Hawaii, Rinda and Gordon Healey of Mesa, Ariz., and Ilene and Vincent Bro-man of San Diego, Calif., are hosting the gathering to which family and friends are invited. At the request of the couple, guests are asked not to bring gifts.The couple met at church services in Emmett, Idaho. They were married July 10, 1940, in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Temple in Logan, Utah. Irene’s maiden name is Davis.A graduate of the University of Idaho, Eveard Harrison was employed by the Department of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service, for 35 years working in Idaho, California, Arizona and Oregon, including Yakima, Colfax, Spokane and Walla Walla. He retired in 1974. He published soil survey reports for the Federal Government for Walla Walla and Columbia counties and he is a member of the Soil and Water Conservation Society of America. He has taught soils classes to sixth graders at Camp Wooten for five years and soils classes at Walla Walla Community College. He has also taught genealogy at the Walla Walla Senior Center.A graduate of Utah State University, Irene Harrison taught school for several vears in Idaho and didsubsitute teaching in Colfax. A homemaker, she has been a Cub Scout leader and been involved in 4-H and P.T.A. She has also taught classes at WWCC. She is a member of Phi Upsilon Omieron.The Harrisons are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have held various offices in both ward and stake level. Mr. Harrison has been a branch president, bishop’s counselor, and has worked in the Scouting program. He was librarian at the L.D.S. Branch Genealogical Library and is currently a staff member. Mrs. Harrison has been a teacher in the church’s children and youth organizations and has been president of the Relief Society five times in four different locations. She currently teaches the 9-year-olds in primary and is a genealogical staff member.The couple enjoy gardening, walking, genealogy, and traveling to visit their grandchildren.They have 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
