The truck was brought to the city hall station Monday after a field engineer from the company where the truck was purchased arrived in Iowa City to demonstrate use of the $6*foot aerial ladder which operates automatically, The firemen were trying the ladder at Hotel Jefferson this morning' when this picture was taken, ftaMng and lowering of the ladder Is controlled by levers, and the entire affair is mounted on a turntable so that the ladder can he adjusted to any building. Among; the first to climb the new ladder during its initial trial on the city hall Monday afternoon was Iowa City’s Mayor Preston Koser. The new track wiU be housed at the temporary second fire atatloii on South Gilbert street, and trill be Used mainly fu the business district when the necessity arises. lt;Press-Citizen Photo).
