Charges of drawing a deadly weapon and assault and battery are lodged against Freeman Newman, 20, 2109 South First, after a fight with Elmer Stephenson, who found Newman in his car parked in the 1600 block on South First. When Stephenson ordered Newman from his car, it was reported, the latter not only struck the owner but also JVliss Margaret Hennis, Stephenson’s companion, and he is said to have then drawn a knife and threatened to slash the couple.
