The i.a Crosse Chronicle says that an ;irrh:i-ol«gist of St. l’aul has made several trips to that place, and has discovered some etfigy mounds near La Orescent, lt;m the opposite side of the Mississippi, one of which represents a rrog. Its greatest length is ^ feet-The body is two feet high and the head ltf inches. Near it is a bird effigy, and within a quarter of a mile there are five oilier bin! effigies, with sixty-nine round mounds and embankments.
