Meiers celebrate 50 years togetherMr. and Mrs. Kenneth Meier Sr. of Summerhill have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a surprise dinner and dance at St. John’s Roman Catholic Church hall. Summerhill.Mr. Meier and the former Johanna Walters were married May 15, 1948, at St. John Gualbert’s Roman Catholic Church by the Rev. Francis L. Gorney.Mr. Meier was born April 21,1927, in Mineral Point, son of John and Rachel Meier.Mrs. Meier was born July 25,1926, in Johnstown, daughter of John and Ellen Walters.Mr. Meier is a retired plumber and pipefitter from Local 354.The Meiers are members of St. John's Roman Catholic Church, Summerhill.They are the parents of three children:Denise Leigh, Summerhill; Kenneth Jr., Windber; and Jo Ellen Keller, York.There are five grandchildren.
