E. Briggs, Burley, supervisor of the Minidoka national forest, said Sunday In dedicating the new $26,000 Magic Mountain T-bar ski :Ilft,Briggs said the U. S. forest service is working toward the plan to allow the area to be developed as a first rate ski resort. He pointed out the erection of a hotel in the area is the natural development following the erection of the new ski'lift.The forest supervisor said facilities in the ski area can handle up 'to 1,000 skiers an hour. In addition [to the new ski lift, two rope towsare operating at Magic Mountain.Briggs congratulated Claude Jones, ski lift operator, for erecting the new lift, which' will lead development of Magic Mountain. He said Magic Mountain can be developed into one of the outstanding ski areas in the west.Frank Judd, past president of the Twin Falls Chamber of Commerce, acted as master of ceremonies during the dedication. Judd commended Jpnes for doing a good job in developing Magic Mountain.Mayor H. a. Lauterbech, Twin Falls, sajd Twin Falls and the entire area is interested in the development of Magic Mountain. He congratulated Jones for making the area oneof the leading recreation regions in southern Idaho,R. S. Tofflemire, Twin Falls, called upon skiers to attend the meeting at 8 pun, Tuesday in the Idaho Power company auditorium where plans will be discussed to keep the ski area road open.Tofflemire said that beginning next year the road situation in the area will begin to clear. He pointed out he hoped Jones was not discouraged by the problem of keeping the ekl area road cleared of snow this winter.He said he believed that before Iopg Magic Mountain would be a leading attraction in Idaho and would fill Twin Falls hotels withskiers from outside of-Magic Valley. He said it would not be long before hourly bus schedules are made to the ski area.Tofflemire said the community owed Jones a lot for constructing the new ski lift.Also attending the dedication was J. R. Grout, Ogden, engineer for the Mines and Smelting Supply company, manufacturers of the lift. He said the Magic Mountain ski lift was constructed faster and runs smoother in early operations than most of those manufactured by his company.More than 200 skiers used the lift facilities Sunday and approximately 300 persons attended the dedication rites.
