Jan. 3G~lt;Special-—Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Mercer, former residents of Highmore and Willow Lake, celebrated their sixty -second wedding anniversary at their home in west Sioux Fails this week.Samuel Mercer and Emma Rutherford were united m marirage at Arema, Iowa county, Wisconsin, in 1872. Shortly after their marriage they came to Correc ;*jnvllle, la., and later moved to Willow Lake, S. D. where Mr. Mercer was engaged in the real estate business. In 1906, he began homesteading and will be numbered among the e«rly pioneers of South Dakota. Until moving to west Sioux Falls in November, they had resided on a farm near Highmore, for the past 15 yean.To this union eight children were bom, six of whom are living, one daughter in Los Angeles, one son in Yankton, and one in Quinn, and three children in Sioux Falls, Herbert and Bros Mercer and Mrs. LeoFoster.This proud couple has 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. 'Mr. and Mrs. Mercer are very active and able to do all their own w’ork In spite of their being 82 and 80 years old respectively.
