The Fast Line was on time, and the Aceommoda-probably a minute late, HobCove is the passing point for the;hedutti-ains, and it was the duty of the train first arriving there to wait twenty five minutes for the other before proceeding. The Fast Line reached the station first,but did not stop, go’mg ahead at fullspeed. The engineer, Charles Ted row,them m _ . * ** w ^pumps, which were not working well,about three hundred yards beyoDdlierhistation he observed the headlight ofFitthe approaehiog locomotive of the Ac eoramodation. He at once sprang back into the cabin of his own engine, gavewarning to the fireman, reversed thethe fireman jumped to the grouad. A fearful collision followed, and the engines came together witha terrific crash. Both engines fairlyimbedded themselves -and stood upright on the track. Each train kept the track,hut the shock of the collision spent itseliOQ the express aod baggage ears oi two trains, which were broken up into kind-line wood. From the stoves the expresscar and baggage car took fire and were totally consumed with most of their con tents.
