Winnebago East Shore Lions Have 5thAnniversary; District Governor TalksIMALONE — Members of theWinnebago East Shore Lions Club, have passed the five-year mark in service to the blind and various types of civic improvement. The anniversary was recently observed with a dinner at Club Harbor, Pipe.District Governor Louis Shea* han of New London was the principal speaker. He told of the widespread activities of Lions clubs.r-J-11traitirledisa_it•ssr:eirhder-ito5.11Deputy District Governor Henry Brunschmid of Sheboygan Falls spoke briefly and presented Key Awards to Thomas Brown and Kenneth Sippel for having obtained new members last year.26 Charter Members Jan. 11, 1961, 26 charter members gathered at Club Harbor to organize the Lions Club. Today, membership totals 38. These members come from Fond du Lac, Calumet, Sheboygan and Manitowoc Counties. The area includes Stoekbridge, Pipe, Fond du Lac, Elkhart Lake, St. Peter, St. Cloud, Kiel, Malone, St. Anna, Johnsburg, Mount Calvary, Marytown, and the area in and around these cities and villages.Club members maintain an active interest in the Camp for the Blind located at Rosholt. This camp is the first of its kind in the world.Another endeavor supported is the Eye Bank of Wisconsin, located in Milwaukee, with sever-alal branches in other cities in the state.Many Club Projects Among the various causes for which the Winnebago East Shore Lions Club has raised and contributed funds are: sending a blind girl to the camp at Ros-| holt for three summers: donat-jing a braille typewriter; buy-: . *a handicapped high school student; purchasing an automatic washer for a woman who lost her sight; sending donations to Lions Care project for two years; giving $450 toward Villa Loretto at Mount Calvary; a check to Xavier School for Blind in New York for Braille books and equipment and many other local projects.The group meets twice a month—the first meeting of the month is always held at Club Harbor, Pipe, and the second, is held in one of the other towns from where there is membership representation.Present Officersthird vice president; Ray Kauf* fung, secretary-treasurer (only member to have maintained same office since organization began); Louis Schrage, Lion tamer; Robert Thome, tail twister; August Sippel and Robert Winkel, directors with terms to expire July 1, and Leonard Aus* loos and Albert Froehlich, directors whose terms expire July 1, 1967.The immediate past presidentis Dr. James Walsdorf.Present officers of the organization are: Dewey Beyer, president; Joseph Bartel, first vice president; Kenneth Sippel, second vice president; Aloys Abler,Rlpon Court Fine RIPON—Evertt L. Rogers, Mosinee, R. 2, pleaded nolo contendere in Branch 3 Monday to a charge that he stopped and left standing a vehicle where stopping is prohibited. Judge Eugene F. McEssey adjudged him guilty and assessed a fine of $10 and costs.Search For Talented GirlTo Represent New HolsteinIn Beauty Pageant StartsNEW HOLSTEIN — A talent search for girls, 17 to 26 years of age, in the communities of Calumet County surrounding New Holstein has been initiated to find a representative in the 1967 Miss Wisconsin Pageant at Oshkosh.Ron F. Hoerth, pageant chairman, said early entry assures a contestant of the complete cooperation of the Pageant Committee members.The pageant will be a Miss America-type competition among single girls possessing good character, poise, personality, intelligence, charm, beauty and artistic or practical talent.
