Mr., Mrs. B. L. Gillum Mark Golden Wedding AnniversaryMr. and Mrs. Bernard L. Gillum, LaVale, were honored recently on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary. Mass was celebrated at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, followed by a reception at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gillum, Bel Air.The couple was married Jan. 4, 1937, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church parsonage. The late James McGann and Buelah Martz were the only attendants.Mrs. Gillum, the former Iris Cecelia Martz, is the daughter of the late G. Frank and Cecelia (Frey) Martz. She worked as a retail clerk for Burtons Mens Clothing Stores, retiring in 1975. Mr. Gillum is the son of the late Walter C. and Mary O. (Miller) Gillum. He was employed as a supervisor for the Celanese Corporation, retiring from theexcursion department in 1975 (fallowing 47 years of service.Mr. and Mrs. Gillum are the parents of two children. Robert B. Gillum and Rev. William Gillum, O.F.M., Cap. They also have two grandsons, Scott andCraig Gillum.The couple renewed their wedding vows during mass, with their son, Rev William Gillum, and Rev. Fmil Fischer, O.F.M., Cap., pastor of SS. Peter and Paul, officiating. Rev. Fischer also delivered the homily and blessing. Readings were given by the couple’sgrandsons and daughter-in-law,Peg Gillum Mr. and Mrs. Gillum were presented with a yellow corsage and boutonniereby their grandsons.Mr and Mrs. James Millerassisted with the reception. The three-tier cake was baked by Mrs. Shelby Gable and served by Mrs. Kathleen Lear. Mrs. Ann Kammauf served the coffee and champagne. The champagne toast was presented by the couple's son, Robert. Mr. Gillum also videotaped the mass and reception and presented the tape to his parents.Mr. and Mrs. Gillum were therecipients of numerous gifts,including a money tree and atrip to San Francisco, and a letter of congratulations from President and Mrs. Ronald Reagan. Calls of congratulations were received from Mrs. Betty Wright, Mississippi, Mr. and Mrs. John Scott, Indiana, and Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow-Thomas, Salisbury, Md.Out of town guests attending the mass and reception were from Moundsville and Fairmont, W.Va.; Tampa, Fla.; Bedford and Vienna, Va.; Bowie, Bethesda and Annapolis, Md.; and Dover, Pa.Ms. Martirano, David Goldman To Be MarriedMr. and Mrs. Joseph P Martirano Sr., Espy Avenue, Frostburg, announce the engagement of their daughter, Frances Ann, to David Philip Goldman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Meginley, Portsmouth, Va., and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Goldman, Smithfield, Va.Ms. Martirano is a graduate of Beall High School and West Virginia University, writh a bachelor of science degree in nursing. She received her masters in psychiatric nursing from the University of Virginia and is currently serving on the faculty of the University of Virginia School of Nursing and is employed at Western State Hospital, Staunton, VaMr. Goldman is a graduate of Churchland High School, Portsmouth. Va., and the Uni versity of Virginia. He is a third year medical student at the University of Virgina.The wedding will take place Feb. 14 in Charlottesville, Va.BSP City CouncilWill Meet Jun. 28Beta Sigma Phi City Council will meet Jan. 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the South Cumberland Library.
