tGirl Scout Councils To MergeDan Peacock of Mineola, President of the Chisholm Trail Girl Scout Council, announced today the forthcoming merger of Chisholm Trail Girl Scout Council with the Dallas Girl Scout Council.The Chartering Meeting of the new Tejas Girl Scout Council is to be held January- 29 from 10:00 am. to 12:00 noon at Temple Emanu-El in Dallas.Tejas Council will be chartered by Girl Scouts of the United States of America to serve girls in the following counties: Collin, Dallas. Ellis, Henderson. Hunt, Kaufman, Navarro. Rains. Rockwall. Van Zandt, and Wood.An Organization Committee composed of 28 members representing the Boards of Directors of the merging councils has been meeting for a year to work out the plan of organization for the new Council.The purpose of the merger is to provide a Council strong enough to efficiently carry out the job of bringing good Girl Scout program opportunities to all girls seven to seventeen in the 11-county area.Chairman of the Oragnization Committee is Mrs. Dan H. Womack of Dallas: Vice-Chairman is Mrs. R. T. Hooks of Mineola and the Secretary is Mrs. Sam Rives of Ferris.The Chartering Meeting on January 29 will be for the purpose of approving the plan of merger and to elect officers and Board of Directors for the newly formed Tejas Girl Scout Council.Delegates from Plano attending the meeting will be: Mrs. John Williams, Mrs. J. O. Turner, Mrs. Billy Mitchell, Mrs. Garvis Spain. Mrs. Leonard Owen.The new Council will have a girl membership of approximate- : lv 20.643 and an adu’t member-ship of 5.574. Three established camp sites will be provided for the membership: Camp Whispering Cedars, near Dallas; Camp Laird West near Athens, and Camp Rocky Point on Lake Texo- | ma at Denison, Texas. IThe Council Office will be located at 4222 Herschel in Dallas.The Tejas Girl Scout Council is affiliated with United Funds and Community Chests in the participating counties.
