Pioneer Meeting,Below we publish the report of a pioneer meeting held at Willshire this county on the 8th inst, and the announcement of a general meeting of the pioneers of this and adjoining counties:Pursuant to announcement the pioneer* in the vicinity of Willshire met at the Baptist church iHst Saturday afternoon for the purpose of taking the necessary steps for holding a Pioneers’ Meeting (of Van Wert and adjoining counties) in Wiltshire next fall. About fifty of the old veterans were present. Henry Stacy was elected Chairman of the meeting and Sylvester Campbell Secretary, but owing to the feeble condition of the latter’s eyes, C. E. Detter was chosen to fill the place. Wm. Jacobs, the blind pioneer, then stated the object of the meet-1 ing. On motion Ira Neptuue was elected , permanent Treasurer. It was unanimously decided to appoint three committees, viz.: one on general arrangements, one on finance and one on foraging. Dr. J. F. SlmfTner. Alex. Counterman and Sylvester Wood were then appointed committee on arrangements.Edward Mclx'od, S. Campbell and Ien-hart Dull were appointed committee on finance.J. L. Harper, L. 1). Spry, John Foreman and Dennison Tinkham were nppoiuted oommittee on foraging.On motion it was decided to hold the meeting the first Thursday in September, next, which is the first day of the month.Moved and seooded that all the editors in Van Wert and adjoining counties be solicited, through the Gazette, to copy the proceedings of this meeting.
