T) ; newspaper, sent by Mrs. Hauth to hermother, Mrs. Louisa Stover, of Iowa J jII!!!!5i!City.Monday evening, about, 4 o’clock Paul War bur ton and C. A. Hauth were preparing ihelr gasoline lamp, when the thing exploded. It appears that they had just cleaned the lamp, refilled it and Hauth was holding the tube while Paul was pumping, the bowl of the lamp bursted and the air pressure scattered gasoline in everydirection. Neaily all the gasoline was spilled on Hauth's clothing The sas was ignited by the tire in the stove and his saturated clothes were soon, m flame. He ran out of the door into the street, then ttt the rear of the shop where he immersed himself in a tank of water The excitement drew a large crowd to the j scene and the fire was iretemed from destroying the building. Dr. I.II. Voraw thoughtfully placed his ; large overcoat around Hauth and smothered the fire, which could not j be extinguished by_ the water. His 2C» and hands were fearfully burned \ causing agonizing pain. He was at once taken to the physician's office where Ms condition was given the, best of attention and then tak?n to j | his home where he Is getting along as well as could he expected under the circmnstances.i\II!!I!
