The outstanding event of the season was the celebration of the Golden Wedding Anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Altizer Wednesday of last week. This good couple came from Kentucky to Texas about 47 years ago and a number of these years have been spent near Cherokee.The menu of refreshments consisted of all the good things it seems that human skill could provide. The wedding cake was iced in gold colored icing adorned with 50 yellow candles arranged in the form of the figures 50 around which banked yellow roses. The color scheme was carried out in every decoration. The bride of 50 years ago wore a dress of golden brown.The following children were there to enjoy the occasion: Mr. and Mrs. Pick Sallee and son, Darrell; Mr. and Mrs, John Allison and son of Uvalde; Mrs. John Allison and son of Uvalde; Mr. and Mrs. B. R. Caw-thorne of Sonora; Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Sutton of Menard; Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Adams and two sons of Menard; Warner Altizer and family of Sweetwater. Mrs, Ely Taylor of Sonora and Olin Altizer of Comstock failed to be present. Mrs. Mary Oney, a niece of Pearl, Mr. and Mrs. Berlin Whitt and son of Goldthwaite, Mr. and Mrs. John Altizer. Miss May Altizer, Mrs. Alice Altizer and son. R. T., Mr. and Mrs. Billie Whitt, Mrs. Mintie Whitt of Cherokee. A large number of old time neighbors and friends also enjoyed the hospitality.
