Trotter of 17 Harriott Ave , who started working forthe Pennsylvania Railroad.around 1910. retired from service December 4 Mr. Trotter is the past chairman of the local B. of L. E., Division 173, a position he held for *the past 10 years.Born in Franklin, Mr. Trotter moved to Cleveland in his youth. In 1910 he was employed as a brakeman for the railroad out ofr^ Cleveland, serving in that cap-jacitv for three years. He started j employment with the PRR in Oil s!City in 1917 as a fireman and was promoted an engineer in 1930. His work included runs between Pittsburgh District, Buffalo, Olean and Erie.DURING his many years of experiences, Mr. Trotter recalls aninteresting highlight between the years of 1910 and 1914 when he worked as a flagman on trains out of Cleveland which madenumerous campaign stops forTheodore Roosevelt, Taft andWilson throughout eastern Ohio.Another experience occurred in• •■'/*!• lt;%*'■•• • 11926 where his train was caught j by the ice gorge at Sandy, below Franklin, forcing him to run upthe side of the hill when the*! water rose rapidly. In that gorge, he stated, the Franklin Bridge was taken out.The only serious accident Mr. Trotter experienced, was when the Express Run, en route to-Buffalo, jumped the track near the Assumption Church here in Oil City during World War I.MR. TROTTER was married to Margaret E. Rose, who diedin 1948. He remarried in 1950 toMargaret E Smith.
