It was given in honor of both of these popular oung gentlemen, as a birth-day surprise, the auniversary of the birtn if each coming but three days apart. When a half hundred of their friends and neighbors sud•V*. 0 '*denly appeared and took posessiou otthe entir. house, and Frank and Will t o, their faces bore evidence that the entire atiair had been skillfully kept sect et by their wives and parents. After the first greetings were over the company divided off into groups and various games were entered into, contributing to ihe pleasures of the evening A vt ry pleas ant fea ure of the evening was the singing by Mr. Win. Borden, witn Mias Rosa Borden and Miss Creighton, of Louisville, Ky., at the piano. After refreshincuts were served a social hour wasspoilt, when Frank and Will had an op-p rtuuity to jttdge what the broad smile, worn on the ever pleasant face of John Ryder, who had dr. pped in as though by accident, had to do with the occasion, i'ne hands on the clock had reached the hill-top when the Company dispersed to their homes, with pleasant recol lections of the hospitality of the Bordens.
