Don Wolf, Dixon, was named Outstanding Young Farmer of Lee County by the Dixon Jaycees recently at their annual OYF awards program at Emerald Hill Country Club.MDon and his wife Shelba farm 210 acres in Palmyra Township and feed feeder pigs and milk 38 cows. Besides his demanding farming operation, Don is a director in tne Lee County DHIA, the State DHIA and the Northern I Uinois ADA. He is also a member of the Lee County PorkProducers ami a member of the Lutheran Church. He and his wife have three children ages 11,9, and 3.First runner up in this year's contest was Norman Fassig of Compton. Second runner up wasJames Jarvis of Ashton and third runner up was Allen Bollman ofOGLE COUNTY DHIA REPORTDixon.For the honor of being announced the Lee County Outstanding Young Farmer, Wolf was the recipient of numerous prizes courtesty of the cosponsors of the contest. Wolf and his wife traveled to Bloomington on Friday, Jan. 12 and 13 to compete for state honors among other statewide area winners.In all, 17 contestants from all over the county competed in the program. Judges for this year’s event were Bill Riegle, Steve Kingry, Dr. Elmer Rice, and Bernard J. Rudolphi. Steve RicVlefs, Roger Zehr and Howard Lemons of Dixon formed the committee that put on thisyear's program. Featured speaker was Reg Willis, Peoria, president of the State of Illinois Jaycees.
