The petition for liberty continued that the plaintiff was sentenced to serve 10 days in jail by Judge Newton in City Court at 9 o'clock Friday morning and that the court had no right to hold him for more than three hours on the charge. Judge Gleason ordered the hearing for 8 o'clock this morning. Wright, it was charged in City Court, failed to provide for his family after being ordered to do so by the court and with causing his wife to leave Terre Haute so she could not appear against him.HUMANE SOCIETY OFFERS PRIZES FOR COMPOSITIONStThe Terre Haute Humane Society voted at the meeting last night at the Y. M. C. A. to offer three awards of $5 in gold each to children in the city schools who write the best compositions on the subject “Kindness to Animals.” The awards will be given to one child in each of the Sixth, Seventh and Eighth grades of school. The contest will close March 15, and all compositions must be at the Y. M. C.
