Seven of Miss Nora Callahan's friends unexpectedly arrived and were surprised -ly but cordially welcomed by that young lady. The evening was spent in playing games of all descriptions, and was occasionally variated by means of fire-arms and cannontcrackers. Just at midnight two immense gas pipes filled with powder were exploded, telling the surrounding neighborhood of the annual death and birth. S0021 the revelers departed, all wishing Miss Call ah nn a Happy New Year.
