GOLDEF WEEDIHG OF MOSES AHDIT AMOY LONG.Thb fiftieth marriage anniversary of this estimable and venerable couple was duly and moat delightfully observed on Wednesday, Dec. 26,1883, at the old homestead, near Mt. Olive Church, Clermont co., Ohio. Of their six children, three daughters, Mrs. J. B. Rapp and Mrs. John Booso, of Owensville, O., and Mrs. Marion Cheney, of Pleasant Plain, Ohio, with their husbands and children, were present. The absent children were Mrs. Matsinger, of Illinois, deceased; and D. W. Long, of Dayton, O., and Mrs. Phcebe Burns, of Highland co., O., who were kept at home on account of severe illness. Many letters of congratulation were received from kindred at a distance. There were two siBteraof the bride of 50 years ago in attendance,Mrs. Michael Lawyer and Mrs. Phoebe Forbes,of Mt. Carmel, Ohio; Henry Long, Esq., of Mt Olive, with his daughter, Miss Ida, cousins of the groom, were present, and added much to the ioterest of the occasion. An elegant dinner was served, but before partaking thereof, brother and sister Long, who have lived most happily together for half a century, were presented as candidates for matrimony, and Rev. J. W. Lockwood, pastor of Centenary charge, performed the ceremony, and congratulations were then the order of the day. In behalf of the donors, tbe pastor presented to brother Long a beautiful gold-headed cane from kindred and friends, also to each a pair of gold spectacles, which were given by their children. Thomas Cook, Esq., a brother-in-law, gave a $5 gold piece; Miss Ida and Emma Long, a very elegant lamp, and many other valuable presents were given, too numerous to ihention. In behalf of himself and wife brother Long responded in an appropriate speech, thanking the friends for their substantial tokens of good will.Among others present not previously named were Mrs. Rev. J. W. Lockwood, Dr. James B. Rapp, of New Boston; Johnson Rapp, Esq., Benjamin Rapp, Esq., Mr. and Mrs. Fred. Lem-ing and daughter, of Mulberry, O.; Mieses Mary and Retta Cook, of Mulberry; Mr. and Mrs. Noah Booso, of Mt. Olive; Messrs. E. A H. Bimkins, of Belfast, O.; Mr. and Mrs. Providence McCormick, of Mt. Olive. Messrs. Burns, of Marathon, Ohio; Miss Louie Matsinger, of Illinois; and Mrs. Ella Johnson, of Mt. Olive, and others.The anniversary ocoasion was one long to be remembered. Hie same company will never all meet again in this world, but the ferventprayer of the writer is that the friendships formed on that day may be perpetuated in the heavenly world.
