THE SAN ANTONIO LIOHTCiassifiedi Want Adi—0Dolph Briscoe:*Mr. South Texas’LAREDO (UPI)-We!! known rancher and banker Dolph Briscoe, Uvalde, a pioneer in research of Texas agriculture problems, was named Saturday as “Mr. Soiith Texas” for the 70th annual Washington birthday celebration Feb. 16-19,Briscoe will be honored on Feb. 18 at the annual Mr. South Texas luncheon during the celebration, which is being held the weekend before George Washington’s birthday.Briscoe, 43, is president of the board Of Southwest Animal Health Research Foundation, a director of the Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers Association and a former president of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association. He is chairman of the board of banks in Uvalde and . Pearsall . and a director of the Alamo National Bank of San Antonio.He is a former, state representative and has- extensive ranch holdings in various South Texas counties.Gov. Connaliy, honored two years ago as Mr. South Texas, has accepted an invitation to attend the four-day celebration. Other previous honorees include former U.S. ambassador to Mexico Thomas Mann, Robert Kleberg Jr. of the King Ranch, Dr. Ernest Poteet, former president of Texas AM at Kingsville: U. S. Dist.
