THIRTIETH ANNIVERSARY.Roll Coll Service at the BloomfieldChristian Church.The Christian church celebrated it’s thirtieth anniversary last Sunday morning: with a roll call service, which was largely attended by the members.The Bloomfield congregation of the Church of Christ was organized December 27th, 1874, by Elder Brinker-hotf, who was also its first pastor.There were five men and eight women as charter members: Francis M. Dugger and Abigail Dugger, John T. Lamb and Nancy Lamb, Riley Quillen and Almira Quillen, George L'pfold and Hannah Upford, William Templeton and Elizabeth Templeton, Jennie Templeton, Maggie Kissel and Sarah Upford. Four of these, Francis M. Dugger, John T. Lamb, Nancy Lamb and Jennie Templeton, are yet members of this congregation* The others have either removed from this locality or have passed to their final reward.Like all other congregations, this one has had its bard times and years of sacrifices, being for a time home* less, meeting from house to house. White few in number they made up in quality what they lacked in quantity, giving us a lesson of what a few heroic men and women may do when they continue stead fast in the faith.The present church building was erected 1870 at a cost of three thousand dollars, there being at that time only thirty members.There has never been a division or serious trouble of any kind amongst its membership, due largely to capable, faithful, prayerful oversight by its elders.The following named preachers have been employed as pastors: J. H. Brin-kerhoff, Robert M. Blount, Wm. Ingram, Joel Dillon, B. M. Blount, W. B. F. Treat. T. M. Wiles, Joseph Franklin, W. N. Littell, Peter J. Martin, Thos. A. Cox, Quincy Short, J. K. Speer, I. C. 8tone, H. M. Egolf, D. W. Campbell, W. M. Sexson, L. F. Drasb.The roll call shows about 540 names of members from the beginning until now. The present membership is 280.Two-fifths of the membership are males to three-fifths females. A rather larger proportion of males than most churches; but as with all other churches the women are the more deeply spiritual and give more spiritual life and render greater religious force. They have an active and effective Christian Woman’s Board of Missions Auxiliary of twenty-six members. Also a Ladies’ Aid Society of twenty-five members.The average Suuday-school attendance is fifty.The Young People’s Society of the Christian Endeavor has a membership of twenty-three.They have a mid-week prayer meeting.The church has raised, for the past several years for all expenses,' more than one thousand dollars per year.
