Cashin.The whole programme was a literary and historical treat, and a credit to Decatur.The essay of Miss Evans and Mrs. Lockhart were deep and scholarly, they were well rendered.Prof. Buchanan, though sick, and shaking with a chill, proved himself an orator of no mean ability. With the oratecal skill of his Aimer Mater, Fiske University, he riveted the attention of every eye and swayed the audience.Prof. Frierson forcibly read and impressed every word of Lincoln's Proclamation.Amid rounds of applause, the Master of Ceremonies introduced the “Orator of tbe day,” ilon.|H. V. Cashin. For one hour he held his audience without tiring. At will, he made them roar with laughter when listening at a recital of Paul Dunbar's “liow Uncle Parker fell from grace,” or made their tears fall, as he told of the heroic deeds of the “Negro Soldier.”At the close of the programme, Rev.
