Mr. andaMrs. Roberts were married on December 31. 1863, at Whitefield, N. H. Mr.Roberts grew up on a farm near Meredith, X. EL. and as there were no trainsin that vicinity then, he drove ten miles in a sleigh to meet his bride, who was Miss Hattie W. Sanborn.Twenty-two years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Roberts came t; Oak Park and have1 i\ oc 1 most of the time since at theirpresent home, 335 North boulevard.Thcv have seen three sons and one-•m'daughter grow up and become useful and prominent members of the community. They lost their first child, a daughter, in infancy.V. 4All their sons and their wives and children were present at the celebration on Thursday. Their daughter, Mrs. Lucie Roberts Lennox, and Mr. Lenox, are in Europe and could not be present. The company, however, numbered eighteen, among them being eight grandchildren. It was the finest party I ever attended, said Mr. Roberts, the elder, as hedescribed the events of the day. “We had the best time. The boys and girls danced and sang songs and it was a great day for us all. We have three good bpys and we are happy that we all live here in the same community.” Mr. and Mrs. Roberts during their residence here have won many friends, their manner of life exemplifying the virtues for which New England is noted. They are best known, however, thru the prominence of their sons and their daughter, Mrs. Lenox. Dr. T. E. Roberts has for many years been one of the well-known physicians in Oak Park and was vbtli the First Illinois infantry as major surgeon during the Spanish-American war, serving before Santiago. H. E. Roberts is an architect and has, perhaps, built more houses and other structures in Oak Park than any other drsigner. W. G. Mrs. Lenox is a vocalist of more than local reputation and is continuing her study and practice in Europe, where she has beenfor a year. The eight grandchildren look prom-ising to the grandparents and they ex-|tct the third generation to at least excel the record of the first and second.Mr. Roberts is seventy-three, but Mrs. Roberts is still too young to be proud of her years and her age is not made public. Both are in fine health and find 1 i ‘e “fifty years afterward” a keen experience and full of interest.
