,sMauricePioneerDies January 1Had Reached An Advanced AgeMrs. Catherine McDonald died January 1 at her home near Maurice after a lingering illness, aged 87 years, 4 months and 21 days.Catherine Buckley was born August 10, 1857, in Elkport, Iowa, the daughter of John and Catherine Buckley. She came with her parents to Sioux county in 1883 and lived there until her death. On May 25, 188G, she was married in Maurice to Hugh McDonald, who with two sons, John and James, preceded her in death. She is survived by three sons, Joe of Hot Springs, S. D., Francis of Glendale, Calif., and one son, William, and a daughter, Margaret, both living at home.She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. J. H. Lynch, Longview, Washington, and Miss Nora Buckley of LeMars, and seven grandchildren. Mrs. McDonald was a charter member of the St. Mary’s Altar Society at Maurice.Funeral services will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic church, Maurice, at 9:30 a. m. Thursday with Rev. Vollmer officiating, and burial will be in St. Mary’s cemetery.Wiltgen's Funeral Home is in charge.
