FEBRUARYFriends honor Hoplocks on diamond anniversaryMr. and Mrs. Peter Hoplock of South Gate Haven for Senior citizens in Emerson, celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary Feb. 18, A dinner for close friends and relatives was held at the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs, Peter Wishnicki - 771 Simpson Ave„ East Kildonan. Presentation was made.The table was decorated with beautiful white, yellow chrysanthemums and red carnations with an anniversary cake decorated with red roses.Their son Bill and daughter Anne spoke on behalf of the family. Also a few kind words were spoken by Mr. Hoplock's youngest brother, John.A heartfelt song was composed of their life and sung by friends, Mrs, H, Lisowcik, Mrs, H. Laskowich, and Mrs, M. Lyp-rypa. Chorus was joined by all, And ended with'^Na MnohaLita,”Mr. and Mrs. Hoplock were both born in Austria. Mr, Hoplock came to Canada in 1903, Mrs. Hoplock in 1907. They we re married at Overstoneville in 1908, where they farmed unti\ 11 years ago, when they retired to Emerson.Both were active in community and church activities in younger years. They still continue togar-den and raise flowers.Mr. and Mrs. Hoplock had eight children, Mrs. Wm. (Anne) Stor-ochuk, Wpg., Mrs. Peter (Mary) Wishnicki, East Kildonan, Bill and Jack both of Toronto, Steve, East Kildonan, Mike, Transcona, and Alec of Cardale. Henry of Overstoneville deceased October 4, 1967. There were 11 grandchildren. One grandson died on July 10, 1957, age 17, and a granddaughter on Oct. 28, 1963 age 17.Mr. and Mrs. Hoplock also raised two oster children, Bob Mahara, Grunthal, Man., and Mrs. Wm. (Helen) Harrison, St. Paul, Minn.Out-of-town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hoplock, Toronto, Miss Helen Scott, Toronto, Ont., Mr. and Mrs. Bob Mahara and family, Grunthal, Man.,. Mr. and Mrs. John Hoplock and family, Overstoneville, Mr. and Mrs. Alec Hoplock, Cardale, Minn.Congratulatory messages were read from Queen ’ izabeth,Prime Minister L. B. Pearson, Lieutenant-Governor, R. S.Bow-les, Premier of Manitoba, Walter Weir, Attorney General Sterling R. Lyon, M.L.A.’s Gil Molgat and Russ Paully, Emerson Mayor Carlson and Council, the town of Emerson, and members of South Gate Haven ‘'Inc.” Board.Two certificates of recognition certified that the couple were honored as citizens of the day by radio stations CKDM, Dauphin and CFAM-CHSM, Altona and Steinbach.
