Wis. — Mr. and Mrs. George Baumann were surprised Sunday afternoon in celebration of their golden wedding anniversary by their children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters. The eelebra- , tion took place at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Alvin Borgwardt.Flowers, a gold-colored Swiss , bell and white and gold streamers decorated the home. An anniver- , sary wedding cake flanked by white candles centered the table.A buffet dinner was served by the children of the couple at 2:30 p. m. The remainder of the afternoon was spent socially.Mr. and Mrs. Baumann were married Feb. 25, 1902, at the bride’s home in the town of Wau-mandee by the late Rev. August Volbreeht, Fountain City. They engaged in farming in the town of Lincoln until late in 1927, when they retired from active farming and moved to Alma.Their children are Elden, Gil-manton; Clair, Winona; Villetta, ] Minneapolis; Mrs. A. W. (Arleen) Ortloff, Rochester, and Mrs. Alvin : (Llewellyn) Borgwardt, town of ] Alma. They have nine grandchil- ; dren and one great-grandchild. ;Two of their grandsons are in service, one. Ensign Loren Borg- i wardt, tJ. S. Navy, is serving on . the U.S.S. Los Angeles, and with ,his wife and son resides at Vallejo, |Calif. The other grandson Pfc. Wes- . ley Baumann is in the Marines, and , is attending school at Jacksonville, j Fla- Two other grandsons also were unable to be present, Dean Tagel, . Rochester, who is employed at St Mary’s Hospital, and Wayne Borgwardt, a student at Bethany Lutheran College, Mankato, who was ill.The couple received many gifts, cards and flowers.
