In here' were also many ■ v;ti’i-colored Japanese .lanterns.xVn unusually beautiful wedding ceremony was arranged, including a program of vocal, instrumental and reading selections, which was given preceding the entrance of the welding •party. The program opened with an organ ; selection To a Wil'd Rose, MacDowell, by Mrs. William Ringer. Following this Miss Thressa Hall and Miss Naomi . Tyer sang When You and I were Young, Maggie.” Miss Eleanor Lilley 'gave a reading, Heart's Easc’h Miss. Nolle Hall and Mr. Charles Haynes sang VNo Sir, No,” the pro-, gram concluding with I Love You Truly,” by Miss Tyer. :Fbr/ the entrance of the wedding• * a • * . , * % • »party Mrs. Ringer played the bridal march from Lohengrin, Wagner. Entering from opposite tfaorways Dr. Ashiey Chappell, pastor, came first, followed by the ifive sons of Mr. and Mrs. Wolverton, Messrs. Alf, F. R., Frank, Marvin and Aue Wolverton of Wapanucka, and grandson Herbert Wolverton. Then, came Capt. and Mrs. W. W. Taliaferro,. who -celebrated theirgolden wedding' anniversary la^t year, and Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Randol. Following them was the little flower girl, Etta Jane Wolverton, the great-granddaughter of Mr. Oiid Mrs. Wol-. verton, who wore a dainty ruffled frock of' white organdie. She carried a small ivory basket, holding white and golden tinted flowers. Immediately. preceding the entrance of Mr. and Mrs. Wblverbon were Miss. I tea Wolverton, -their only daughter, and Mrs. Nettle C. Jones,. a sister-in-lawof Mrs. Wolverton, wno *was .present at the wedding peremony fUtty years ago. Entering at the same time with Mr; and Mrs. Wlolverton were Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Whitehurst, Mrs. Wolverton wore a handsome, gown of... black crepe de chine, agd carried a Shower bouquet of white ’ carnations and white Bride’s roses. .Coudhed 4n words of tenderness and reverence Dr. Chappell, addressing the elderly couple, recalled the day, 50 years ago, when they became man and wife. Fifty years ago,” he said, you celebmted your wedding. There have been some clouds, as they come in every life, but in your pathway you have seen them turn into' a silvery lining. In spite df cloudy days, life has befen worthwhile, and you have seen your dreams come true. Surrounded by yo.ur stalwart ’ sons, your daughter, your grandchildren and great grand children, this - event indeed is one of celebration. Side by side you have fought life’si battles, may you have many winsome tomorrows.” In conclusion Dr. Chappell presented them a handsome loving cup, a gift from himself and Rev. Jesse Thompson and members oT the official churdh- board, .of whidb Mr. Wolverton has been amember many years. Mr. Wolverton responded with a brief word of appreciation.for the gift and for the many ■friendships formed during their 3P years residence in Ardmore.Throughout the cerenrony, which concluded with a .prayer, Mrs. Ringer played softly I.Love You Truly, and for ilh'e ‘ recessional played Mcndels-shon’s wedding march.Members of the wedding party, wltlh Mrs. Chappell, Mrs.. R, L. Morgan of Oklahoma City, Rev. and Mrs. Thompson, Mrs. E. C. Chastaine, anti Mr. Lester Jones, o£ Wichita Falls, Texas, formed the receiving line.More than .HbO friends were in at-, tendance. An ice course in -white and gold was served. . 'Among the handsome and beautiful gifts presented Mr. and Mrs. Wolverton, many ct whicl^were on display at the church, was a set of velour over-stuffed chairs, presented, by their children.
