Special to The News.Austin, Tex., yob. 20.—More testimony wae hoard tonight by the entire senate sitting as the committee on privilegesi»n* . izi ill? 0r'0Tltest for the seat irom the Twenty-third Senatorial District. Contested Parr continued to introduce witnesses and at times there was merriment ovcp the answers.Most of tonight's testimony was through interpreters, the witnesses being Mexican and unable to speak the English language. One of the interpreters is a patrolman who goes on duty every night at 11 o'clock, and is of Italian descent, but speaks Spanish.Statements by counsel were to the effect that probably the testimony would be concluded this week, possibly by Friday night. Argument will come later, together with the vote of the senate. It will probably be reached next week.Ontslmo Herrera, the first witness, stated that he is a carpenter at JGaredo. Has lived there twenty-five years and votes at Precinct 2. Voted there in the general election of 1918. Can not read, write or speak the English language sufficiently to make out Ids ow® ticket. Told Mr. Babano, the judge, that he couldn't make out his ticket and wanted to vote for Glasscock for governor. Mr. Babano tdok the ticket and said he would make it out. Witness then went out. leaving the ticket with Babano. he said. Witness said he voted in the primary last year. Voted for Archie Parr. Did not vote for Parr for president but for senator.Witness said that he belongs to the Independent Club of Laredo; votes the club's ticket, although it 1ms been several years since he has .been around the club. Witness has a brother who 5e a policeman of Laredo. His brother can not read, write or understand the T3ng-glish language, he said.Paid 'I'vrtt Poll 'mrw.Camilo Arias stated that he can not speak English, resides in l^aredo and votes at Precinct 1. Joe Barbario male out the tickets there In the November election, fitness said lie cast his vote for Glasscock for attorney general, out didn't know for* whom he voted for superintendent of public instruction, When he went to the polls he told Joe Barbario he wanted to vote for Glasscock for attorney general, and Barborio handed him a ticket, which witness handed back. Belongs to the Independent Club. Witness said he paid two poll taxes, one in. the district court and one In the city.Gregorio Gafza testified that he resides at Laredo and votes at Precinct 2, Joo Barbario made out tickets at that precinct In the November election. Witness voted for Glasscock at that election for congress. Barbario made out It in ticket for him. Supposed he wrote what he was asked to write, but didn't know. Witness said he voted for Mr. Glasscock for congress and tho straight ticket.On cross-examination he said he. voted for Archie Parr for congress in the primary. Correcting himself in response to a fjucslJon. he said he voted for Archie Parr for lieutenant governor instead of for congress. Is a member of the Independent Club and always votes its ticket, he said.Hllarlo Pcrcz stated that ho resides in Laredo and votes at Precinct 2.
