Couple celebrate50th anniversaryMr. and Mrs. Stephen Danchuk, 119 Smithfield Ave., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary February 23 when a dinner was held in their honor at the West Kildonan Legion. It was preceded by a church service at the Ukrainian St. Joseph’s church.Both were born in the Western Ukraine. He came to Win-! nipeg in 1904 and Mrs. Danchuk in 1902. They were married at St. Nicholas church in 1913. |Mr. Danchuk retired from the Winnipeg Electric Co. in 1955. She is an active member of the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League.Their children are J. W. May-bank, Oakville, Ont.; Mrs. J. H. Heaney, Trenton, Ont.; Nestor of Dauphin; Mrs. ti. Davis, Winnipeg and Mrs. E. R. Shred, Pointe Claire, Quebec. There are nine grandchildren.Among guests at the dinner were Mr. and Mrs. M. Zwason, Dauphin and Mr. and Mrs. J. Davis, Miami, Man.Congratulations were receiv-i ed from Prime Minister Diefen-baker. His Honor, the lieutenant-governor of Manitoba, Er-j rick F, Willis, Premier Roblm | and Mayor Kushnir of West Kildonan.
