Mrs. Amos Fisher.Mrs. Amos Fisher departed this life at her home. No. 120 Peru street, on Sunday of this week at 4 o’clock p.in.She was born in the township of Scriha, near Oswego, N. Y., Dec. 17, 1824. Her maiden name was Olive C. Greene, belonging to a collateral branch of the Greene family, from which sprang Gen. Nathaniel Greene of Revolutionary fame.She came with her father, Oliver Greene, to Bureau county, in 1840, the family settling south of town inthe Bryant neighborhood, where they soon founded a home, now occupied by Ed. Greene, a nephew of her father.In 1848 Olive Greene was united in marriage to Amos Fisher, and soon afterward they moved out on a farm on Center Prairie, now owned by Henry Sapp. Her husband forming a business engagement in Princeton they moved into Princeton in 1863, where Mr. Fisher died in 1884 and whereMrs. Fisher lived continously up to the day of her death.Five children were born to thisunion, one of whom died in childhood. Those surviving are Ann E.,Edward D., Frances and Tibbie.Mrs. Fisher was truly a pioneer,having lived in Bureau county forover (H) years, and was a most exemplary character. She was a member of tlie M. E. church and lived up to the high standard of Christianity she prof esse i.The funeral was from the family residence, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock p. m., and was conducted by Rev. Slaughter, of the M. E. church. During her life Mrs. Fislier could tell many interesting reminiscences of Princeton and vicinity, aswhen they landed here in 1840, after a tedious journey in a wagon from their eastern home, this town ofPrinceton contained only a few houses and what are now the second and third wards were largely covered with hazel brush.
