Chavarrys feted on 50thanniversary%Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Chavarry of 11 Hoosac St. celebrated their 50th anniversary Saturday, Feb. 16, and asurprise dinner party in their honor was given at the home of their son-in-law anddaughter, Mr. and Mrs. Edson Slade of 5Mill Road, Stamford, Vt.The couple was presented numerous gifts and received many cards, including one from President Richard M. Nixon, in recognition', of the anniversary. In anticipation of the anniversary, Mr. and Mrs. Chavarry were given a month’s trip to Hawaii by their children last July.Mr. Chavarry and his wife, the former Jeannette D. Pushard, were married Feb. 16, 1924, in Hallowell, Maine. He was employed as a foreman at the Wall-. Streeter Shoe Co. for 32 years prior to his retirement last year.The couple has six children. In addition to Mrs. Slade, they are Blanche Chavarry of Sanford, Maine, a major in , the Salvation Army; Frank J. Chavarry Jr. of Dalton, Mrs. Charles Hanchett of Annandale, Va., Lt. Col. Richard Chavarry, a chaplain in the U.S. Army, and Mrs. Clark Calebough of Media, Pa. They also have 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
