Dr. .J. Placido Garcia, Jr., director of the Legislature’s permanent interim education study committee, has devised a series of brain teasers for lawmakers. Garcia’s office is located at a busy corner on the top floor of the PER A Building. He found it necessary to direct traffic past his office during the transition between the administrations of Govs. Garrey Carruthers and Bruce King. The learned doctor decided to put a picture of a crown outside his door pointing down the hallway toward King’s transition office. Later he prevailed on Rep. Coll to draw a lame duck with a golf club pointing the other direction toward Carruthers’ offices.Once Carruthers left and Lt. Gov. Casey Luna moved in next door to Garcia, the duck came down and was replaced by a picture of a moon with an arrow. Get it? Think bilingually, Garcia prods.
