Mrs. Mahal a Burnette Dies At 80 YearsMrs, Mahala Etta.Turman Burnette, 68, died this morning at 4 o’clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Price Newman, 130 Forest Lawri Drive., She had been in declining health about two years and her condition had been critical for two weeks.A. native of Carroll County, Mrs. Burnette was born December 28, 1884, the daughter of the late William Gabriel and Sarah Sutphin Turman. Most of her life was spent in her native community where she was active in church and civic affairs. ' Her husband, Joseph J. Burhette, died in 1948.Deceased is survived by two sons, Earnest E. Burhette, of Stuart and Connie H. Burnette, of Dugspur; and five daughters, Mrs. C. T. Dyer, of Roanoke; Mrs. R. A. VanSutphin, of Princetown, W. Va^; Mrs. Price Newman, of Danville; Mrs. Joseph J. Mozach, of Martinsville; and. Mrs. Dempsey McPeak, of Maple Heights, Ohio. She also leaves two brothers, L. T. Turman, of Sylvatus, Ga., and L. L. Turman, of Sugspur; and a sister, Mrs. Luther Goad, of Dugspur.Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Mount Hebron Baptist. Church at'Willis.
