Watkins High School began shortly after 12:30 p.m. Friday following some disturbances at the school among students.Dr. Allan McClure, principal, reported earlier of a minor disturbance but that everything was under control.Me said the trouble stemmed from a fight among uii’dentified students.Police cars patrolled the area and another disturbance took place shortly after the noon hour.Reports were that several Students were injured butnone seriously.According to reports by thepolice at the scene, several arrests have been made but the students were not identified.Dr. McClure later stated hedid issue an order for the police not to let the students who walked out to come back in the building.He said he understood two scalp injuries resulted from a fight that began at the south end of the building at the 10:10 a.m. recess. He said it was a small group at first but then it got larger.The walkout started calmly at the end of the recess then black students began drifting out in small groups.I)r. McClure said there Isno set spokesman for the group so he doesn’t know what their grievances are.“We will identify their leaders and this will be processed.” We can’t say what will be done about punishment and we have no plans for closing. We will operate normally for the students who stayed,” the principal said.Many parents, both black and white, went to the school to pick up their children.The Rev.
