The couple was married on February 19, 1306, al Amasia, Armenia.50TH ANNIVERSARY FOR BURLINGAME COUPLEA Burlingame couple who started their marriage a half century ago in Armenia after their parents and friends negotiated their weeding in the customary fashion ion of the old country will be honored by over a hundred friends and relatives at a golrlenwedding anniversary tomorrow at Bob's on Broadway.Arriving from all parts of the United States today were the friends, relatives and descendants of Mr. and Mrs. Selim Kcshi-shian of 1225 Capuchino avenue, Burlingame.Wed in Armenia According to the couple's daughter, Mrs. Susan Leyva.of1332 Carlos avenue, Burlingame, Mrs. Keshishian was 15 and her husband 22 years old when they were married on February 19, 1906, at Amasia, Armenia.Although it was the custom at the lime that the bride should not see her husband until her wedding day,* Mrs. Leyva related how her mother sneaked a peek at her future husband and was well pleased with the turn of forthconiing events.Keshishian, the driver ot an intercity hansom cab in his home province, decided in 1912 to seekhis fortune in the promise land of America and came, first, to New York. The following year he sent for his bride and two oldest children.Massacred Family Shortly after leaving. Armenia the. Turks invaded the country and massacred every member of the family, but Mrs. Keshishian’s sister, now Mrs. Charles Masegian of 82 Howard way, Atherton, who will be the only member of the original wedding party in attendance at tomorrow’s gay affair.Alter living awhile in Detroit, the family came to San Francisco in 1937, where Keshishian operated his own business, the San Francisco Shoe Repairing shop, at 217 Clement street.In 1949 Keshishian retired and he and his family moved to Burlingame.•Tomorrows celebration will be cause to celebrate for not just one reason, but for three. The father of the family will celebrate his ,74th birthday tomorrow, as will one son, Joseph, who lives, with his parents, celebrate his thirty-ninth birthday.One Son Delayed Another son, Vincent, whose family has already arrived at the Burlingame home, wired from hisHuntington Wood, Mich., homethat all planes have been grounded. Members of the family arc keeping their fingrs crossed that he will arrive in time.Still another son who will be present is I-Iarry Keshishian of 1204 Alomar way, Belmont. The couple’s three grandchildren also will be there.Among the honored guests will be Richard DerArakelian cf Troy, N.Y., a childhood friend of Mrs. Keshishian, who once lived v/ith her-familv in Armenia, and who provided the family Ihcir first home in America shortly after they arrived in New York.Highlights of the party will he the golden decorations and the 'folk dances and speeches from all the family’s old friends.Bruno School Use Explained
