An event of more than passing In-terest to the Faulknor family was the celebration of a golden wedding anniversary at South Bend today. The principals in the affair were Mr. and Mrs. Mathias M. Faulknor, former well known residents of LaPorte county, but for many years past residents of South Bend. The celebration was made the occasion for a reunion of the Faulknor family, and was attended by children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of Mr. and Mrs. Faulknor. They were married in LaPorte, Feb. 16, 1854, and were identified with LaPorte county until June, 1881, when they moved from Michigan City to South Bend. Mrs. Faulknor’s maiden name was Catherine Worley. She is a native of Lynchburg, Va., where she was born Jan. 8, 1834, being 70 years of age. Mr. Faulknor is a native of Amsterdam, New York, and is 71 years of age. Both came to LaPorte county with their parents when they were children, and have seen LaPorte and Michigan City grow from small hamlets to fair-sized cities and Mr. Faulk-nor relates many interesting incidents connected with the early history of the county. Mr. and Mrs. Faulknor have enjoyed the blessings of a family of three girls and four boyB, now adults, all of whom participated with them in the happy golden anniversary, and the gathering was augmented by the presence of 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The anniversary dinner was served at the Oliver House, of which a son, Frank Faulknor, Is now assistant manager. There were about 40 present at the celebration, including family relatives and close friends. Fol-| lowing the dinner the evening will be spent at cards, music and reminis-cence.The many friends and acquaintances of Mr. and Mrs. Faulknor in LaPorte county will join the family in congratulations upon being able to celebrate such an auspicious event In their lives and will wish them many returns of the day. Mr. Faulknor although past man’s allotted three-score and-ten, is still hale and hearty, and is at present engaged as a successful traveling salesman for the Mishawaka Woolen Mills company, covering an extended territory, and,with hts wife, bids fair yet to reach, that rarest of events, a diamond anniversary.
