Localites to Attend LaredoColonialand PageantMiss Mary Jane Rohde, will be among eight young ladies who will represent cities at the annual Colonial Ball and Pageant to be held beginning Feb, 18 in Laredo. Tills event is one of the highlights of the George Washington's Birthday Celebration. Tills ball and pageant has been sponsored by members of the Society of Martha Washington, since 1939. The celebration will continue through Feb. 10.The pageant will be staged in the new Laredo Civic Center auditorium. The ball will follow in the convention hall, Hie Colonial costume cx-travanza yearly marks t li e first public appearance of the gentleman and lady who have been chosen to be the principal characters of the celebration, George and Martha Washington. Tills couple is chosen by members of the Society of Martha Washington, on the basis of contribution to local civic and social activities and to the community development. The 19tH George and Martha Washington were Robert N. Traut-nian and Mrs. Samuel A. (Olga) Meyer.Mayor J. C. Martin Jr. will serve as master of ceremonies at the pageant and bail.Mrs. Mike Volpe is the current president of the Society of .Martha Washington. A ninth young lady has Ixien added to the representative list. She is M:ss Judith Lee Campbell, who will represent Laredo AFB. She is the daughter of Col. and Mrs. Blaine B. Campbell, Laredo AFB.Miss Rohde Is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Rohde. She is a senior at Alamo Heights High School. Her mother is the former Miss Mary Jane Minis, daughter of Mrs. Conn Mims, now residing in San Antonio. She is a former member of this social organization.Miss Rohde’s escort far the pageant and ball will be Preston Perron Jr.Mr. and Mrs. Rohde will accompany ibeir daughter toLaredo for the ball and pageant. Among other San Antonians who will attend these events will be Mr. and Mrs. Leo Perron, Mr. and Mrs. RoImmL Conrad, Mr. and Mrs, J. L. Rottenstein, Mr. and Mrs, R. C.
