No. 451, was put out of commifslon by the flre, as the wiresfrom the box go through the basement of Thayer. A telephone message was sent to the flre headquarters and from there box 54. Memorial hall, was sent in.The yard about the building wasthronged with student* who came fromlecture rooms and the neighboring dormitories. They cheered the firemen a* they arrived, and cheered every incident that amused them.In all of the rooms after the lire th® coal fires In the grates were still going cheerfully, much'In contrast to the surroundings.One man appeared after the flre with two pairs of flannel trousers, well blackened by the smoke, and a broken pipe, the only remains of his room worth carrying away.The college begnn to clean up the building as soon as the firemen left, and remair work will begin at once.The men who were burned out yesterday are: Room 45. O. Renton, 3. B.Brown; 46. H. h. and R. D. Smoke poured in volumes from the windows of the building, but the flre was confined mostly to the, hallway.Students climber Into the windows of the rooms and soon pillows and other small furnishings began to four forth from them. One squad got into a room, and was all for throwing a piano out of the window-, but the owner objected, and the music box was set upon a table to protect It from any water that mightsettle on the floor.Amoag the students who were first to flgnt the flre were W.
